Having bought a pre-owned Sony FM stereo tuner through eBay, it came without any manuals. It soon became clear that to get the best from this excellent tuner I needed a decent manual because much of the operation was not intuitive to a newboy to hi fi like me. I managed to download the official Sony multi-lingual manual from Owner-Manuals.com with no problem at all - a really quick and easy service. I'm very glad I did because I found out all the operations of the tuner and was then able to not only set it up quickly but also to get much more from it that poke-and-hope trialling would ever achieve. In my book $4.99 very well spent.

Tape Operation/Recording
Note: � During rewinding or fast forwarding of a tape, it is also possible to select another source (CD, TUNER or AUX, for example). IMPORTANT! Recording is permissible if copyright or other rights of third parties are not infringed upon.
General Information on Recording
G For recording, use only tape of IEC type I (normal tape) or IEC type II (Cr02). G The recording level is set automatically, regardless of the position of the Volume, Incredible Surround, BASS/TREBLE, and so forth. G The tape is secured at both ends with leader tape. At the beginning and end of the tape, nothing will be recorded for six to seven seconds. G To prevent accidental recording, break out the tab on the left shoulder of the tape side you want to protect.
Preparation for Recording 1 2 3
Press TAPE to select tape mode. Load a recordable tape into the tape deck. Press à or ë to select the recording tape side. � A appears on the display for the reverse side. � B appears on the display for the forward side. Press AUTO REV. on the remote control repeatedly to select a recording mode. � å for recording on one side only. � � for recording on both sides. Prepare the source to be recorded. CD 1�2�3 � load the disc(s). TUNER � tune to the desired radio station. AUX � connect external equipment.

G If �CHECK TAPE� is displayed, the protection tab has been broken. Put a piece of clear adhesive tape over the opening. Do not cover the Cr0 tape detection hole when covering the 2 tab opening.
When recording is in progress � starts flashing. G It is not possible to change tape side. G It is not possible to listen to another source. G It is not possible to activate the timer function.
One Touch Recording 1 2 3
Press CD 1�2�3, TUNER or AUX to select the source. Start playback of the selected source. Press 0 REC to start recording.
To stop recording G Press �on the system. Note: � One Touch Recording is not possible in TAPE mode, "SELECT SOURCE" will be displayed.
