Having bought a pre-owned Sony FM stereo tuner through eBay, it came without any manuals. It soon became clear that to get the best from this excellent tuner I needed a decent manual because much of the operation was not intuitive to a newboy to hi fi like me. I managed to download the official Sony multi-lingual manual from Owner-Manuals.com with no problem at all - a really quick and easy service. I'm very glad I did because I found out all the operations of the tuner and was then able to not only set it up quickly but also to get much more from it that poke-and-hope trialling would ever achieve. In my book $4.99 very well spent.

Important Read this user manual carefully before you use the appliance and save it for future reference. - Keep the appliance dry (Fig. 1). - This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. - Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. - The appliance is equipped with an automatic voltage selector and is suitable for mains voltages ranging from 100 to 240 volts. - Charge, store and use the appliance at a temperature between 5°C and 35°C.

2 Clean the top of the appliance first, using the brush supplied (Fig. 9). 3 Press the release button (1) and remove the shaving unit (2) (Fig. 10). 4 Clean the inside of the shaving unit and the hair chamber with the brush (Fig. 11). 5 Put the shaving unit back onto the shaver. Every two months: shaving heads 1 Switch off the shaver or remove it from the wall socket. 2 Press the release button (1) and remove the shaving unit (2) (Fig. 10). 3 Remove the retaining frame by pushing the sides of the central spring towards each other (1) and lifting the retaining frame out of the shaving unit (2) (Fig. 12). 4 Slide the shaving heads out of the retaining frame and clean them one by one (Fig. 13). Do not mix up the cutters and the guards. This is essential since each cutter has been ground with its corresponding guard for optimal performance. If you accidentally mix the sets up, it could take several weeks before optimal shaving performance is restored. 5 Clean the cutter with the short-bristled side of the brush (Fig. 14). Brush carefully in the direction of the arrow. 6 Brush the guard (Fig. 15). 7 Slide the shaving heads back into the retaining frame and put the retaining frame back into the shaving unit (Fig. 16). 8 Put the shaving unit back onto the shaver. , For extra thorough cleaning, clean the shaving heads by putting them in a degreasing liquid (e.g. alcohol) every six months. To remove the shaving heads, follow steps 1 to 4 described above. After cleaning, lubricate the central point on the inside of the guards with a drop of sewing machine oil to prevent wear of the shaving heads (Fig. 17). Storage , Put the protection cap on the shaver to prevent damage (Fig. 7).

Environment Do not throw away the appliance with the normal household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. By doing this, you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 19). The built-in rechargeable shaver battery contains substances that may pollute the environment. Always remove the battery before you discard and hand in the shaver at an official collection point. Dispose of the battery at an official collection point for batteries. If you have trouble removing the battery, you can also take the shaver to a Philips service centre. The staff of this centre will remove the battery for you and will dispose of it in an environmentally safe way. Disposal of the battery Only remove the battery if it is completely empty. 1 Remove the shaver from the wall socket. 2 Let the shaver run until it stops, undo the screws and open the shaver (Fig. 20). 3 Remove the battery (Fig. 21). Do not connect the shaver to the mains again after the battery has been removed. If there is no Customer Care Centre in your country, go to your local Philips dealer or contact the Service Department of Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care BV. Troubleshooting 1 Reduced shaving performance , Cause 1: the shaving heads are dirty. The shaver has not been cleaned well enough or has not been cleaned for a long time. - Clean the shaver thoroughly before you continue shaving. See chapter �Cleaning and maintenance�. , Cause 2: long hairs are obstructing the shaving heads. - Clean the cutters and guards with the brush supplied. See chapter �Cleaning and maintenance�, section �Every two months: shaving heads�. , Cause 3: the shaving heads are damaged or worn. - Replace the shaving heads. See chapter �Replacement�. 2 The shaver does not work when the on/off slide is pushed upwards. , Cause: the battery is empty. - Recharge the battery. See chapter �Charging�.

Electromagnetic fields (EMF)

This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic fields (EMF). If handled properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientific evidence available today. Charging Make sure the appliance is switched off before you start to charge it. Charging takes approx. 8 hours. Do not leave the appliance connected to the mains for more than 24 hours. Charging the appliance Charge the appliance when the motor stops or starts running slower. 1 Push the slide pins out of the appliance with the slide (Fig. 2). 2 Insert the slide pins into the wall socket (Fig. 3). , As soon as you start to charge the empty shaver, the green pcharging light goes on (Fig. 4). Cordless shaving time A fully charged shaver has a cordless shaving time of up to 30 minutes. Using the appliance Shaving 1 Switch on the shaver on by pressing the switch lock and pushing the on/off slide upwards (Fig. 5). The switch lock prevents accidental switching on of the appliance. 2 Move the shaving heads quickly over your skin, making both straight and circular movements (Fig. 6). Shaving on a dry face gives the best results. Your skin may need 2 or 3 weeks to get accustomed to the Philips shaving system. 3 Switch off the shaver by pushing the on/off slide downwards. 4 Put the protection cap on the shaver every time you have used it, to prevent damage (Fig. 7). Cleaning and maintenance Regular cleaning guarantees better shaving performance. , For easy and optimal cleaning, the Philips Action Clean (shaving head cleaner, type HQ100) is available. Ask your Philips dealer for information (Fig. 8). Note:The Philips Action Clean may not be available in all countries. Contact the Customer Care Centre in your country about the availability of this accessory. You can also clean the shaver in the following way: Every week: shaving unit and hair chamber 1 Switch off the shaver or remove it from the wall socket.

3 Remove the appliance from the wall socket when the battery has been fully charged.

Replacement Replace the shaving heads every two years for optimal shaving results. Replace damaged or worn shaving heads with HQ4 Philips shaving heads only.
