recharging works only on players supplied with the rechargeable ECO-PLUS NiMH battery AY 3363. recharging the ECO-PLUS NiMH battery on board 1 insert the rechargeable ECO-PLUS NiMH battery AY 3363. 2 connect the mains adapter to the DC socket of the player and then to the wall socket. y is pulsing. � recharging stops after a maximum of 7 hours, or when you start playback. 3 when the battery is fully recharged, appears in the display.

selecting a track during playback � brie�y press 5 or 6 once or several times to skip to the current, previous or next track. y playback continues with the selected track, and the track�s number is displayed. selecting a track when playback is stopped 1 brie�y press 5 or 6 once or several times to select the desired track. the track number is displayed. 2 press 2; to start cd play. y playback starts with the selected track. searching for a passage during playback 1 keep 5 or 6 pressed to �nd a particular passage in a backward or forward direction. y searching starts while playback continues at low volume. after 2 seconds the search speeds up. 2 release the button when you reach the desired passage. y playback continues from this position. notes: � if the player is in mode (see mode chapter), searching is not possible. � in shuf�e, shuf�e repeat or repeat mode (see mode chapter), searching is only possible within the particular track.

resume and hold
you can interrupt playback and continue (even after an extended period of time) from the position where playback stopped (resume) and you can lock all buttons of the set so that no action will be executed (hold). use the off�resume�hold slider for these functions. resume � continuing from where you have stopped 1 switch the slider to resume during playback to activate resume. y resume is shown. 2 press 9 whenever you want to stop playback. 3 press 2; whenever you want to resume playback. y resume is shown and playback continues from where you have stopped. � to deactivate resume, switch the slider to off. y resume goes off. hold � locking all buttons you can lock the buttons of the set by switching the slider to hold. now, when a key is pressed, no action will be executed. this is of use, for example, when transporting the player in a bag. with hold activated, you can avoid accidental activation of other functions. 1 switch the slider to hold (or switch hold on the remote control) to activate hold. y all buttons are locked is shown when you press any button. indicator turns red and �ashes. if the set is switched off, will be shown only when 2; is pressed. 2 to deactivate hold, switch the slider to off. (or switch hold on the remote control) note: if you deactivate hold by switching the slider to resume, you will be activating the resume function.

wear your remote control and secure your headphone cord with these wearable magnets. 1 check the polarity of the 2 button magnets. insert the big button magnet underneath your garment.

you can use the following batteries with this cd-player: � alkaline batteries type AAA (LR03, UM4) or rechargeable ECO-PLUS NiMH battery. notes: old and new or different types of batteries should not be combined. remove batteries if they are empty or if the player is not going to be used for a long time. inserting batteries 1 push to open the cd door 2 open the cd compartment and insert 2 x AAA batteries.

mains adapter (supplied or optionally available)
use only the AY 3170 power adapter supplied with your product (4.5 V / 300 mA direct current, positive pole to the centre pin). any other product may damage the player. 1 make sure the local voltage corresponds to the adapter�s voltage. 2 connect the adapter to the DC socket of the player and to the wall socket. note: always disconnect the adapter when you are not using it.

in-car use (connections supplied or optionally available)
only use the AY 3545 or AY 3548 car voltage converter (4.5 V DC, positive pole to the centre pin) and the AY 3501 car cassette adapter. any other product may damage the set. 1 put the set on a horizontal, vibration-free and stable surface. make sure it is in a safe place, where the set is neither a danger nor an obstacle to the driver and the passengers. plug the voltage converter into the cigarette lighter socket (only for 12 V car battery, negative grounding), then connect the wired end with 4.5V DC input socket on the set. if necessary, clean the cigarette lighter socket to obtain a good electrical contact. turn down the volume and connect the cassette adapter plug to p on the set. carefully insert the cassette adapter into the car radio�s cassette compartment. make sure the cord does not hinder your driving. decrease the volume on the set if necessary. start playback on the set and adjust the sound with the car radio controls.

� if a cd-recordable (CD-R) or a cd-rewritable
(CD-RW) is not recorded properly, is displayed, indicating that the cd has not been �nalized. in that case, use FINALIZE on your cd recorder to complete the recording. � when playing a cd-rewritable (CD-RW), please note that it takes 3�15 seconds after pressing 2; for sound reproduction to start. � playback will stop if you open the cd lid. � while the cd is read, 1 -:- �ashes in the display.

selecting different playing possibilities-mode
it is possible to play tracks in random order, to repeat a single track or the entire cd, and to play the �rst few seconds of each track. 1 press mode during playback as often as required in order to activate one of the following �modes�. the active mode is shown in the display. y shuf�e : all tracks of the cd are played in random order until all of them have been played once. y shuf�e repeat: all tracks of the cd are played repeatedly in random order. yrepeat: the entire cd is played repeatedly. y : the �rst 10 seconds of each of the remaining tracks are played in sequence. 2 playback starts in the chosen mode after 2 seconds. � to return to normal playback, press mode repeatedly until the display shows no active modes.

troubleshooting warning: under no circumstances should you try to repair the set yourself
as this will invalidate the guarantee. if a fault occurs, �rst check the points listed, before taking the unit for repair. if you are unable to solve a problem by following these hints, consult your dealer or service centre. the cd player has no power, or playback does not start � check that your batteries are not dead or empty, that they are inserted correctly, that the contact pins are clean. � your adapter connection may be loose. connect it securely. � for in-car use, check that the car ignition is on. also check player�s batteries. the indication is displayed � check that the cd is clean and correctly inserted (label-side upward). � if your lens has steamed up, wait a few minutes for this to clear. the indication is displayed � CD-RW (CD-R) was not recorded properly. use FINALIZE on your cdrecorder. the indication is on and/or there is no reaction to controls � if hold is activated, then deactivate it. � electrostatic discharge. disconnect power or remove batteries for a few seconds. the cd skips tracks � the cd is damaged or dirty. replace or clean the cd. � resume, shuf�e is active. switch off whichever is on. no sound or bad sound quality. � � � � pause might be active. press 2;. loose, wrong or dirty connections. check and clean connections. volume might not be appropriately adjusted. adjust the volume. strong magnetic �elds. check player�s position and connections. also keep away from active mobile phones. � for in-car use, check that the cassette adapter is inserted correctly, that the car cassette player�s playback direction is correct (press autoreverse to change), and that the cigarette lighter socket is clean. allow time for temperature change.

bass adjustment � press eq (on the set only) to switch the bass enhancement on or off y dbb is shown if the bass enhancement is activated. with a conventional portable cd-player you might have experienced that the music stopped e.g. when you were jogging. the electronic skip protection (esp) prevents loss of sound caused by light vibrations and shocks. continuous playback is ensured. however esp does not prevent playback interruptions during vigorous running. it also does not protect the unit against any damage caused by dropping! on this set powersaving is default on. the power save mode helps to extend battery lifetime for longer playback. � press esp (on the set only) to enter power save mode. ypowersave is displayed. � press esp again to return to esp mode. ypowersave disappears.

caracteristiques
esp / mode d'économie d'énergie
les lecteurs de cd portables classiques sautent souvent des parties du cd quand ils sont soumis à des chocs ou à des vibrations. la fonction electronic skip protection (esp), dont votre appareil est équipé, évite la perte de continuité quand il s�agit de légères vibrations. mais esp n�évite pas les interruptions de lecture dues à un entraînement sportif intensif. Il n�évite pas non plus les dommages si le lecteur tombe ! sur cet appareil économie d'énergie est activé par défaut. le mode d'économie d'énergie permet de prolonger la durée de vie des piles pour plus d'heures de lecture.

avertissement : n�essayez en aucun cas de réparer l�appareil vous-même, sous peine d�invalider la garantie. dans le cas d�une anomalie de fonctionnement, commencez par véri�er les points ci-dessous avant de donner votre appareil à réparer. si vous ne parvenez pas à résoudre le problème en suivant ces instructions, veuillez consulter votre fournisseur ou votre centre SAV. pas d'alimentation au lecteur de cd, ou la lecture ne démarre pas � contrôlez si les piles ne sont pas usées ou vides, si elles sont insérées correctement, si les bornes de contact ne sont pas sales. � la connexion de l'adaptateur est lâche. connectez bien l'adaptateur. � lors de l'utilisation en voiture, contrôlez si le contact de la voiture est mis. veuillez aussi contrôler les piles du lecteur. l'af�chage indique � contrôlez si le cd n'est pas contaminé et si il est inséré correctement (la face imprimée orientée vers le haut). � si la lentille est embuée, attendez quelques minutes pour que l'embouage de la lentille ait disparu. l'af�chage indique � le CD-RW (CD-R) n'est pas enregistré correctement. utilisez FINALIZE sur votre enregistreur cd. si l'af�chage indique et/ou aucune des touches ne réagit � si hold est activé, désactivez la fonction. � décharge électrostatique. débranchez l'appareil ou enlevez les piles pendant quelques secondes. le cd saute des plages � le cd est endommagé ou contaminé. remplacez ou nettoyez le cd. � resume, shuf�e est activé. désactivez chacune des fonctions.

3 4 haut, en appuyant sur le cd pour le �xer sur l�axe de l�appareil. fermez le lecteur en appuyant sur le couvercle. appuyez sur 2; pour mettre le lecteur en marche et démarrer la lecture. y le numéro de la piste en cours de lecture et le temps écoulé sont af�chés. l'indicateur passe au vert. vous pouvez interrompre la lecture en appuyant sur 2;. yl�af�chage du temps de lecture clignote. l'indicateur passe à l'orange et clignote. reprenez la lecture en appuyant une nouvelle fois sur 2;. appuyez sur 9 pour arrêter la lecture. y le nombre total de pistes et la durée totale de lecture du cd sont af�chés.

resume et hold
vous pouvez interrompre la lecture et la reprendre (même après une longue pause) à l�endroit où elle a été arrêtée (resume), et vous pouvez bloquer tous les boutons de l�appareil afin d�empêcher toute action (hold). utilisez la glissière off�resume�hold pour ces fonctions.

branchement de la télécommande
n'utilisez que la télécommande AY 3781 . 1 appuyez deux fois sur 9 sur l'appareil pour éteindre l'appareil. 2 3 4 5 raccordez fermement la télécommande à p sur l'appareil. raccordez fermement les écouteurs à la prise sur la télécommande. sur la télécommande, maintenez 2; appuyé pendant 1 seconde pour allumer l'appareil et pour lancer la lecture. ajustez le volume sonore soit au niveau du psa soit avec la telecommande. 3 vous voulez porter le psa autour de la taille? utilisez la rallonge pour porter comme une ceinture.

manipulation des piles ECO-PLUS rechargeables au NiMH
� recharger des piles déjà chargées ou à moitié chargées diminue leur
durée de vie. nous vous recommandons donc d�utiliser la pile ECO-PLUS au NiMH jusqu�à ce qu�elle soit complètement vide avant de la recharger. � pour éviter les courts-circuits, les piles ne doivent pas toucher d�objets métalliques. � si les piles se déchargent rapidement après avoir été rechargées, cela signi�e que les contacts sont sales ou qu�elles ont atteint la �n de leur vie utile.

avec ce lecteur, vous pouvez utiliser � des piles alcalines du type AAA (LR03, UM4) ou piles ECO-PLUS rechargeables au NiMH . remarques : ll ne faut pas mélanger des piles usagées et neuves ou des piles de types différents. retirez les piles si elles sont déchargées ou si vous n'utilisez pas le lecteur pendant un certain temps. insertion des piles 1 appuyez sur pour ouvrir le couvercle du lecteur. 2 ouvrez le compartiment des piles et placez-y soit 2 x piles AAA . témoin des piles la charge approximative restante des piles est indiquée à l�af�chage. (de la télécommande) pile pleine pile à deux-tiers pleine pile à un-tiers pleine pile vide. quand les piles sont vides clignote, est af�ché, et le bip se fait entendre de façon répétée. l'indicateur passe au orange et bip brievement. l'indicateur passe ensuite au rouge avant que le psa ne s'éteigne. durée moyenne d�utilisation des piles dans des conditions normales type de piles normales AAA alcalines AAA piles ECO-PLUS NiMH rechargeables esp + économie d'énergie 3 heures 12 heures 10 heures

bloc d�alimentation (fourni ou disponible en option)
n�utilisez que le bloc d�alimentation AY 3170 (4,5 V / 300 mA, courant continu, tension positive sur la borne centrale). tout autre appareil risque d�endommager le lecteur. 1 assurez-vous que la tension du réseau correspond à celle du bloc d'alimentation. 2 branchez le bloc d�alimentation sur la prise DC du lecteur et sur la prise murale. remarque : débranchez toujours le bloc d�alimentation lorsque vous ne l�utilisez pas.

utilisation en voiture (connecteurs fournis ou en option)
n'utilisez que le convertisseur de tension pour autoradio AY 3545 ou AY 3548 (4,5 V courant continu, pôle positif sur la broche centrale) et la cassette-adaptatrice pour autoradio AY 3501. tout autre produit risque d'endommager l'appareil. 1 placez l'appareil sur une surface horizontale, exempte de vibrations et stable. assurez-vous 12 V DC que c'est un endroit sûr où l'appareil ne représente aucun danger et où il n'est pas un obstacle pour le conducteur et les passagers. 2 introduisez le transformateur pour voiture dans la prise de l'allume-cigare (seulement pour une batterie de voiture de 12 V, mise à terre négative) puis connectez l'embout du câble au jack d'entrée 4.5V DC sur l'appareil. si nécessaire, nettoyez la prise de l'allume-cigare pour obtenir un bon contact électrique. réglez le volume bas et branchez la �che de la cassette-adaptatrice à p de l'appareil. introduisez la cassette-adaptatrice avec précaution dans le compartiment pour cassettes de l'autoradio. assurez-vous que le cordon ne vous gêne pas pour conduire. pour baisser le volume sur l'appareil, si nécessaire. lancez la lecture sur l'appareil et réglez le son avec les commandes de l'autoradio.

� si un cd enregistrable (CD-R) ou réenregistrable
(CD-RW) n�est pas enregistré correctement, l�indication est af�chée. dans ce cas, utilisez la fonction FINALIZE de votre graveur de cd pour terminer l�enregistrement. � si vous souhaitez lire un cd réenregistrable (CDRW), il faut entre 3�15 secondes pour que la lecture démarre après avoir appuyé sur 2;. � la lecture s�arrête si vous ouvrez le couvercle du cd. � 1 -:- clignote à l�af�chage pendant tout le temps de la lecture du cd.

sélection des différentes possibilités de lecture � mode
Il est possible de jouer les morceaux dans un ordre aléatoire, de rejouer une piste ou d�écouter les premières secondes de chaque piste. 1 pendant la lecture, appuyez sur mode autant de fois que nécessaire pour activer un des modes suivants. le mode actif apparaît à l�af�chage. y shuf�e: toutes les pistes du cd sont lues dans un ordre aléatoire, jusqu�à ce que chacune ait été lue une fois. y shuf�e repeat: toutes les pistes du cd sont lues plusieurs fois dans un ordre aléatoire. y repeat : l�ensemble du cd est joué de façon répétée. y : les 10 premières secondes des pistes restantes sont lues dans l�ordre.

absence de son ou mauvaise qualité de son � le mode de pause (pause) peut être activé. appuyez sur 2;. � connexions lâches, incorrectes ou sales. contrôlez et nettoyez les connexions. � le volume peut être réglé trop bas. réglez le volume. � puissant champ magnétique. contrôlez la position et les connexions du lecteur. eloignez l'appareil des téléphones mobiles. � lors de l'utilisation en voiture, contrôlez si la cassette adaptatrice est insérée correctement, si sens de lecture du lecteur de cassettes de votre autoradio est correct (appuyez sur autoreverse pour changer) et si la prise de l'allume-cigares n'est pas sale. attendez que l'appareil soit acclimaté.

(ou faites glisser hold sur la télécommande) remarque : si vous désactivez la fonction hold en amenant le commutateur sur resume et que vous remettez l'appareil en marche, la lecture reprend là où vous l�aviez arrêtée.

� veillez à toujours ôter le convertisseur de tension de la prise de l'allume-cigare quand l'appareil n'est pas en service. remarque : si votre autoradio possède une prise LINE IN, il est préférable de l'utiliser pour le branchement à l'autoradio plutôt que la cassette-adaptatrice. branchez la ligne de signal à cette prise LINE IN et à p sur l'appareil.
